Stiffy On Ice

Stiffy is a hockey Mom. And I never imagined how much work goes into getting the kids all set for a practice session. It took me less time to get ready for the prom then it did for her youngest to get all geared up to get on the ice.

Going to the rink with Stiffy was a real eye opener. There were boys, there were girls, there were two year olds (not making this up) that were all getting dressed to practice. Here is the list of the required gear:

Shorts - with built in protection for the family jewels
Shin guards
Long stockings that velcro to the shorts and go from thighs to ankles
More shorts that go over the other shorts with padding for kidneys
Elbow Pads
Neck Protector
Chest Protector
Helmet
Gloves
Big shirt that covers all of the above
Gloves
Skates

You rock Stiffy. I don't know how you keep it all together.

Guess it's cheaper (& smarter) than hospitalization & broken bones!!! What a good mom.

Here's an interesting texting typo I created last week: And if airline seats get any smaller, I can see this being an actual problem. Can you imagine? I'm sorry ma'am, but there is no way both of you can seat in one seat. You will have to purchase an additional ticket for "her". What would happen then? Would she want the window or middle seat? That's assuming she would even want to sit next to me. I mean, we are together 24/7 so she may want a little alone time, out in the open air, where she is free of any restraint. And what if she is chatty, flapping her lips the whole time? Commuting Tips - How to Make The Drive More Fun

Today is Saturday, which means I get a break from driving to my job in Boston. I love what I do and I honestly don't hate my commute. By the end of the week however, I can get fairly tired from the trip. So, in order to stay sharp on my drive, I've adopted the following strategy to make things more fun,interesting and bearable. Talk on the phone. Talk a lot. And don't use your blue-tooth wireless set up either. It's more challenging getting in and out of Boston if you have one hand on the wheel and one up to your ear. Send text messages. Nothing says 'I love you' like a text message sent from a friend while navigating bumper to bumper traffic on the Mass Pike. My preferred technique - look down and type, look up for a quick lane check, back down again to type. Scan the newspaper.
