Wanna Go For A Ride

I'm experimenting with some new video software. I have a long way to go to master this. In the mean time, here is a boring little video that I have been playing with. For you Mac owners, if you can't view this, could you please let me know. I never can quite figure out in which format to render these. Thanks all!

If possible, you should try parking in Natick and taking the T into work. Relax, read the paper, text some friends. Your stress level would be greatly reduced....but who am I to give advise about commuting, my office is 12 feet from my bedroom. I have sat in that traffic going to see customers. Usually my knuckles turn white from gripping the steering wheel like an anaconda. If you were next to me in traffic, you can actually see the spittle fly from my lips as I let loose with a flurry of words that would make a grown man cry.

Hi McMeaty - Love your new blog! I'm jealous of your commute. What is this flurry of words of which you speak? Will it help to move the bad drivers out of my why?

Hey Ms. Creek - Thank you for updating me on the Mac status. Patience - well, I guess I am just used to the commute. I really hate to wait standing in line but somehow in the car it doesn't seem so bad.

Hi Sassy - Yeah, I think I am about at that point. All though some would argue I was just as insane before I started this commute.

Hey Rubye Jean - You end up gettng used to it after a while. The way in is much more tame than the way home. A new kitten...congrats on your new edition!

My two nieces have had some health issues lately. First E was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. She ended up with a five day stay. Then my other niece S spent twelve hours in the ER due to a pain in her side (no, it wasn't me). Not feeling up to par can really bring you down. So I am sending them both some well wishes here today and hopefully convincing them that there are worse things in life. There is 80's hair: Oh, and a couple of more things to add to the list: red shag carpet and wrist corsages. Rock me like a hurricane girls, but you sure are pretty in pink (and black). Oops, I Did It Again

A while back I did a post about super-gluing a Mickey Mouse figurine to my middle finger. This time I have somehow gotten a ring stuck on the same finger. And I can't get it off. I put the ring on yesterday afternoon. I knew I was going to have trouble as soon as I shoved it past my knuckle. My finger is starting to get a little sore from all the tugging and possibly a little swollen, which is obviously not helping matters. Doesn't the Universe realize I can't possibly drive to work in Boston without complete and total use of this finger? It is as necessary for the commute as is a tank of gas. How will I convey my true feelings to the "left hand turn from the right lane" folks I encounter every day? I cannot be mute for my commute! Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions on how to remove the ring 1) without removing my finger and 2) while keeping the ring intact I would greatly appreciate it.

You Are Hereby Put On Official Notice

...that I am outta City Hall in three weeks. I am giving my notice at work on Monday, something I hate to do. I have been very worried about the economic climate and my continued status as a dependent contractor at my current organization. My position is funded until June, but with a freeze both on hiring and overtime and worsening conditions, I feel I need to get out while I can. Being a contractor affords me no unemployment insurance and if things continue as they are, I think jobs will be harder to come by as June nears. I have accepted a position at a University in the Boston area. The commute will still pretty much stink, but it is a 35 hour week and there is the opportunity to work remotely (i.e. from my dining room) one day a week. I am really looking forward to joining this organization and very excited to be working in higher ed. Giving my notice is going to be very tough. I have been with my current organization, as both a full time employee and a contractor, for over 8 years...
