Mitt In A Dress?

When I first read that John McCain chose a female VP, I was excited. I saw her picture - she was young and looked a bit like Karen on the show Will and Grace. She must fairly moderate I thought. Then I read the following on Boston.com:

In October of 2006, the Anchorage Daily News described Palin's positions on social issues :"A significant part of Palin's base of support lies among social and Christian conservatives. Her positions on social issues emerged slowly during the campaign: on abortion (should be banned for anything other than saving the life of the mother), stem cell research (opposed), physician-assisted suicide (opposed), creationism (should be discussed in schools), state health benefits for same-sex partners (opposed, and supports a constitutional amendment to bar them)."

WTF? It's Mitt Romney in drag! I knew he would get on the ticket somehow. Someone please comfort me and tell me Hillary supporters are not going to jump over the fence and vote for McCain just because of this woman. Now Mitt, take off that dress!

I love it! Plus, she probably doesn't come with a lot of political baggage - malleable in every way - now I gots to stop thinking about that malleable thing - she's cute. But, not that cute.

You know what scares me about her, this is something I was thinking about last night. What is the only thing the two sides agree on right now? OIL....what if he picked her so she could offer up her little state for it's oil?

Conversation heard outside my window this morning:
Dad: "Hi Gary. Did you see who McCain picked for VP?"
Gary: "Yea. A woman, she's pretty."

Um... Is that the way she is gonna first be thought of... her looks?
My first reaction was; if anything happens to MCain, she'll be President. - No thank you.

Damn, her positions make me sad. McCain choosing a woman as his VP made front page news here in the UK, and I thought it was fantastic at first before the first seed of doubt crept in.

Hope you guys get Obama.
Hey Lori - I thought someone from Alaska would be a little more laid back like the characters in the TV shows that are set there. She's seems as friendly as a big 'ol polar bear with a hair across it's bum.

Very good point OC. I had not thought of that. Oil is a biggee this year.

Ahh interesting convo Chewy. I have to admit, when I first saw her I thought she was kind of attractive. Until I read her stance on major issues - then she got real ugly.

Hey Ellis - Thanks for the visit. Front page in the UK? Interesting to read how thinks here are presented in other parts of the world. I was really disappointed to read her positions. The thrill of seeing a woman on the ticket was quickly displaced by total dismay for her politics.

They very first thing I thought when I saw Palin was that she looked like Tina Fey. (tee-hee) Very ironic.

I just Googled "Tina Fey Palin" and I'm NOT the only one who thinks so! Too Funny!

Ewwww. Not cute and definitely scary and completely unqualified. Who wants her a heart beat away from the presidency?

Is McCain's heart beating?

Obama '08!

No worries. At least I don't think so. I mean, I gave her a fair hearing because anyone deserves that, but it didn't take long to see where she stands... which is far, far, far to the right... or wrong, as it were.
